California Drug Rehabs

At most California drug rehabs there are three phases for substance abuse treatment, whether it is for drug or alcohol abuse.  It is important that a facility have the capability to treat both addictions since many addicts are suffering from abuse of both substances simultaneously.

Phases of Treatment

Phase one is for primary care. During this phase the clients are in a rehab facility. Medical detox is also included in phase one, if it is necessary for the individual client.

Phase two is extended care. In this phase,  clients receive residential treatment and begin both individual and group counseling at a California drug rehab.

Phase three consists of programs. Some rehabs have a T.E.A.C.H program or a transitional work program, which allows clients to work in a safe environment free from temptation of drugs or alcohol. Programs such as these give a structured re-entry into a rewarding and productive drug-free life.

Phase four at most California drug rehabs is the aftercare or prevention care. During this final step, the client will learn the necessary tools to avoid relapse and live a drug-free life, and benefit from continued support and guidance until they feel secure in their ability to avoid relapse.

Learning New Skills and Gaining Confidence

California drug rehabs try their best to keep their clients focused and calm by providing a variety of activities and workshops that are designed to improve coping skills and enhance self-confidence. Many rehabs offer special programs just for women, just for men, or even for religious preferences. They also offer such options as traditional, holistic or faith-based programs to give clients a more individualized approach to treatment.
